By J. D. Naylor "jazzfan" (England) :
Another superb album from be-bop maestro Peter King this time in a live setting in France in 1984. King is joyous throughout as he romps through an enjoyable set of standards with his trademark free flowing be-bop licks evident throughout. He is accompanied by the superb Philippe Briand trio with Briand himself proving the perfect partner for King in this type of setting.
"Blues for S.J" is superb and then goes one better with the glorious "Hi-Fly". The live sound is very good which often detracts from a live album when it isn't ; but that is not the case here King has rarely sounded better.
This is great stuff and I couldn't praise this album enough. Essential for all King fans and be-boppers alike.
Note : 10/10
